First off now that I have come to think about it, I am a very fortunate woman. I have a truely amazing husband, who is very suppportive and caring. Now that I am on my "crafting craze" he has been very motivating and even a big help, from giving me his opinion to helping me pick out things he has been there for me. I am very thankful for him and all he does, I appreciate that he takes interest in my hobbies and keeps me motivated. I am very lucky to have him as my husband and for him to be the way he is.
Now, my new completed craft! Since the Christmas season has come to an end I needed to change the center piece at our dinning room table, and well I don't have a "Spring/Summer" one yet since we didn't have a table last spring and summer, but luckily now we do! So off to do another craft! And of course lucky me, my hubby helped me and we came up with this one. Of which I really like, it's cheerful, bright, and different :D. The great things as well.... it was inexpensive and very quick to put together! I just hope everyone likes it as much as I do :)

A personal touch
Today finally my husband and I completed a personal touch we have been wanting to add to the nursery for quite some time. I can say this... I love it!! and am glad we were finally able to finish it. This craft was special because it was something my husband and I did together :) we painted the letters, picked out the colors, and everything together, so it was a nice bonding time and something we can say we did for our son together :D.
Here it is, made with lots of love!

Quick Doggie Bed! :)
Dog beds... oh where should I start... the one item in this household that has not had a long life >.<. Our dogs after a while have treated the few they've had as tug toys. So we've given up! Frustration at it's best is how we feel when we put the words dogs and beds together :P. Just recently after the remains of a bed finally came to an end I came up with a new idea for a bed. Cheap was the thought and only way these boys of ours would get another bed. I realized a towel was a good size for their kennel. So I decided using 2 old towels and making a "bed" out of them. Today I took on the task, which was difficult b/c of the thickness, but I got it done. My husband also gave me a great idea, to keep it secure in their kennel add ties along the bed to tie it to the kennel. I used some wonderful 550 Cord and bam! I made a dog bed lol. It might not be the prettiest or greatest thing, but it works and so far they love it! As well and most importantly... it was very inexpensive! :) So it works, I just hope it has a long life.

Staying Warm :)
Another project down! I chose this one for a very important reason.... to stay warm! lol. I have noticed a draft around all our windows and thought this would be a great thing to keep the cold out. It will be especially useful for the winters out here and old window treatments. So far I just made one for the guest bedroom, next is the living room.. very important areas. Sewing circles is not very easy, especially attaching a circle, so this project wasn't way easy but it was quick. Just a couple of steps to obtain a draft blocker and keeping the house warmer. The directions called for it to be filled with kitty litter... of which I didn't notice until I was about to make them and well there is something about kitty litter that is not very appealing to me. So as I had already planned on and thought was used for the filling I used cotton filling I use for pillows and I have plenty to spare. I think it works good, sometimes altering something works out after all ;)
And so they continue :D
Reversible place mats and matching quilted coasters, my new completed projects! Browsing on the Martha Stewart website I found many crafts that caught me attention. Of those so far I've completed two, and I love them! The great thing of these two is that they were not difficult to make at all. They were a bit time consuming, but that's just part of the attention to detail part and getting the hang of the process as well. I'm excited to continue with crafts and making more useful things for our home. I want our house to have personal touches and be unique.

Getting Crafty
So I finally got a sewing machine!! and I must say I am very happy and thankul! I have already completed various projects and am planning on more. This has also been a great hobby to keep me busy, especially towards the end of this pregnancy. I hope on staying crafty this year and creating many things for our home :).
My first craft project was decor for the nursery. I decided to make these little "frames" that went with the theme and were something different. It was also a very easy project, all I did was get some fabric and wood framed canvas. I simply then stapled the fabric to the canvas and "wah-lah!" there you have it. I also thought by stapling the fabric I can reuse them later when the theme changes :)\

Next project, the first on my sewing machine was pillows and pillow cases to put on my glider as extra decorations and also to use the extra fabric I had from the frames. All I did was make small pillows and with the extra fabric I made pillow cases. I made them as pillow cases so I can wash them without a problem and always have clean pillows :)
My favorite projects by far have been the cooking aprons I made for my husband and I. I tend to be messy and clumsy so an apron would be wise on my behalf to wear in the kitchen. As far as my husband, he loves to grill and help me in the kitchen so I figured an apron would be good to keep him clean :). I made mine reversible, mean while I made his one sided with some sewed on patches and wording. They were not too difficult for me to make of which I was very glad, they were a bit time consuming but time is something I have plenty of right now so it worked out perfectly!

The other side :)
And the hubby's :D
And my latest project :). Burp Cloths!! I came up with these after the burp cloths I recieved from our gift registry, they are double layered with an extra strip down the middle. I loved them because they seem fairly absorbant, so hopefully they'll keep us cleaner a little bit longer. I made 6 burp cloths :), they are two sided with different patterns and ofcourse with the strip down the middle :)
and more projects to come! :D
New Year!
Yay! for 2012!! This year is going to be amazing that I know, just for the simple little fact of getting to have our little bundle of joy with us. Now we are just waiting for his arrival :). Last year was a busy and blessed year for us. From moving to finding out there will be a new addition to our family. There of course were the ups and downs, but luckily the good out weighed the bad. One of my new year resolutions is to blog more often, A LOT MORE! I haven't been very good about it, I put it on the very very back burner and well never got around to it. But now I plan to change that and share some good stories :), I'm sure with our bundle of love I'll have plenty to share about. The end of 2011 was fairly busy for us as well, from the holidays to getting the nursery all ready for Anthony's arrival. We also had our last minute couple outtings :).
Dec. Dinning Out :)
